A Word From the Crew

A New England crew that shows up,
every time.

Public Paving was started to fix a stubborn problem in eastern Mass and Rhode Island. Too many homeowners and property managers were left chasing contractors who showed up loud, rolled out a thin mat, and disappeared before the first hard winter rinsed the truth out of it.

We work the other way. Show up on time. Walk the property. Spec the base for how the ground actually behaves around the South Shore, the Blackstone Valley, the Rhode Island coast, and the granite-and-clay of southern New Hampshire. Pour the right thickness, finish the edges by hand, and stand at the curb with you when the rollers roll off.

The phone rings the same way the second year as the first. That is the whole goal.

How It Goes

From phone call
to finished pavement.

A paving project should not feel like rolling the dice. Here is the order of operations from your first call to the day we hand over a fresh, finished surface.

01
Call & conversation
Tell us what you are looking at. Driveway, parking lot, crumbling section, long country drive. We ask the right questions and book a site visit, usually within a day or two.
02
Walk the property
We meet you at the site. Measure the area, check the subgrade, look at how water moves across the surface, and listen to what you actually need solved.
03
Written estimate
A clear, itemized number lands in your inbox or your hand the same day. Materials, base spec, labor, timing. No vague language, no scope traps. Mention the site for 10% off.
04
Schedule & start
Once you give the go ahead, we lock in a start date, prep the site, and get the crew lined up. We work around your hours when business access matters.
05
Build, pave, finish
Base built right, hot-mix machine laid, rolled tight, edges hand finished. We walk the surface with you and explain cure times before we leave.

Why Folks Call Us Twice

We pour pavement that outlives the warranty, show up the day we say, and answer the phone the second year too.

01 / Spec

Built for New England weather

Freeze-thaw cycles, heavy spring runoff, salty winters. Our base spec and mix design fit the conditions on the property — South Shore sand, Worcester clay, Rhode Island coast, southern NH ledge — not a national average.

02 / Word

Written number stays the number

The price you sign is what lands on the invoice. If the project shifts, we stop, talk to you, and you decide before we touch it. No quiet add-ons, no surprise line items.

03 / Crew

Our equipment, our people

No subcontractor handoffs. The crew you meet on the walkthrough is the crew on the rollers. That is how a job stays accountable from first cut to final pass.

Common Questions

Things folks ask us.

All of Rhode Island, eastern and central Massachusetts, and southern New Hampshire up to Manchester. If your address is on the edge of our coverage, give us a call at (978) 387-8424 and we'll let you know.

Yes. Every estimate is free, walked on site, and written. Call (978) 387-8424 in MA & NH, or (401) 677-6505 in Rhode Island, and we'll book a visit. Mention this site for 10% off your project.

Tar & chip is a hot liquid asphalt base topped with stone chips rolled into the surface. It is a strong, low-cost, textured finish — great for long driveways and rural lanes where traction matters and full hot-mix asphalt is not necessary. The texture also looks fantastic at country properties.

A properly built asphalt driveway typically lasts 15 to 25 years with the right base, drainage, and compaction. Sealcoating every 2 to 4 years and patching cracks early can push it well past that.

Light foot traffic is fine after about 24 hours. Vehicle traffic after 2 to 3 days. Full curing takes about 30 days. Avoid sharp turns or parking in the same spot for the first few weeks while the mix sets up.

Just mention this website when you call or send the form below. We'll knock 10% off your paving project — no codes, no fine print.
